Wow, it’s been a really long time since we updated this little guy.  We’ve been super busy.  Have you been keeping up with us on Facebook? We’ve posted all kinds of videos over at facebook.com/integrityworldwide

We are putting on a concert this Sunday night (November 8th) at 6:30 at Pickard Auditorium in Selma, AL.  John Mark McMillan will be playing, we will show some videos and giveaway some CD’s and t-shirts.  Please come!!!!

We’ve been really busy around the IWW offices lately.  We have two interns with us for a few months and we are all working hard to get some great things rolling.  Tim and Marietta are friends from Germany and will be helping us with media and fundraisers.  We launch our first fundraiser partnership with a school on Wednesday.  Morgan Academy has decided to partner with IWW for a year long Change for Change program.  We will be giving a presentation on Wednesday morning for the whole school.  Videos, change jars, pictures, website updates, printing and meetings….. it’s all coming together now.  Here is a short video from Tim and Marietta.

It’s here, the day of the well opening celebration. The morning was full of excitment and anticipation. By 11:30 people were gathering by the well. The District Officer arrived with his guard, chiefs and assistant chiefs. When we got to the well there were a big crowd of adults and then the children started coming. About 700 children, the entire primary school, came for the party.

The celebration completely changed the way I saw the well. I realized that all this fundraising, planning, dreaming and traveling isn’t about a project. It’s not about a well or water. It’s not the clean water in the cup, it’s about the hand that holds the cup and the mouth that drinks it. It’s about people.

After meeting a bunch of people from the community we ate and then went to see the well, trough, pump, tank and library with a pretty large group following us. I wish you could have seen the people’s faces as we stood in the pump house and cranked the generator. To us it sounded like a diesel engine but, to them, it was the sound of water and life. Incredible. Everything was set and ready for the BIG celebration that was set for the next day. We had a great evening hanging out with Moses and his family in the amazing 50 degree weather.

Meto is incredible.

It’s hard to talk about Meto right now. In fact, it’s not even easy to think about Meto. You know that feeling when you’re about to cry and just as the tears are about to come full force you make yourself think about something different. During this trip I’ve grown pretty accustomed to that scenario. I sort of expected these emotions to some degree but it hit me later in the trip then I had anticipated.

By the time we arrived in Nairobi we were on our 3^rd day and I was starting to wonder if Africa and I might not connect. Something changed as we turned off the paved road in Bissoil and started the final leg towards Meto. It was as if, an hour away from Meto, my soul was anticipating the Maasai choir welcoming us when we arrived. People were everywhere when we pulled into Moses’ home. Singing, greeting, loving…. As I stood there holding back tears and trying to video, I thought…ooooh I see now. Well over 30 hours of travel and 4 days in Africa and about 5 seconds after arriving in Meto I realized I have hundreds of brothers and sisters in a little town called Meto, Kenya. Surreal…..yeah, I’d say.
